Former netballer and mum of four selected to represent Manu Sina Samoa
17-06-2016 - Stuff.co.nz.
Remarkable is the only way to describe the sporting achievements of Gene Solia-Gibb.
The Wainuiomata mother of four boys has had a distinguished netball career, representing Samoa and Wellington.
Now the 32-year-old has taken her career in another direction, with her selection in the Manu Sina Samoa women's sevens team.
Solia-Gibb had never played sevens or rugby prior to trialling for the team but is on track to wear Samoa's blue jersey at the Rio Olympics.
Clearly a talented sportswoman, her name gives a hint of where she gets her ability from.
